چکیده

We deal with the mathematical analysis of the coupling problem in a bounded domain of R, n ≥ 1, between a purely quasilinear first-order hyperbolic equation set on a subdomain and a parabolic one, set on its complementary. We start by providing the definition of a weak solution through an entropy inequality on the whole domain. The uniqueness property relies on a pointwise inequality along the interface between the two subdomains and on the method of doubling variables. The existence proof is based on a vanishing viscosity method.

Mathematical Analysis of some Hyperbolic-Parabolic Inner Obstacle Problems

We establish the existence and uniqueness of the solution to some inner obstacle problems for a coupling of a multidimensional quasilinear firstorder hyperbolic equation set in a region Ωh with a quasilinear parabolic one set in the complementary Ωp = Ω\Ωh. We start by providing the definition of a weak solution through an entropy inequality on the whole domain. Since the interface ∂Ωp ∩ ∂Ωh co...

A Note on the Nonlocal Boundary Value Problem for Hyperbolic-parabolic Differential Equations

The nonlocal boundary value problem        d 2 u(t) dt 2 + Au(t) = f (t)(0 ≤ t ≤ 1), du(t) dt + Au(t) = g(t)(−1 ≤ t ≤ 0), u(−1) = αu (µ) + βu (λ) + ϕ, |α|, |β| ≤ 1, 0 < µ, λ ≤ 1 for differential equation in a Hilbert space H with the self-adjoint positive definite operator A is considered. The stability estimates for the solution of this problem are established. In applications, the stab...

Strongly Degenerate Parabolic-Hyperbolic Systems Modeling Polydisperse Sedimentation with Compression

We show how existing models for the sedimentation of monodisperse flocculated suspensions and of polydisperse suspensions of rigid spheres differing in size can be combined to yield a new theory of the sedimentation processes of polydisperse suspensions forming compressible sediments (“sedimentation with compression” or “sedimentation-consolidation process”). For N solid particle species, this ...

Boundary-value Problems with Non-local Initial Condition for Parabolic Equations with Parameter

In 2002, J.M.Rassias (Uniqueness of quasi-regular solutions for bi-parabolic elliptic bi-hyperbolic Tricomi problem, Complex Variables, 47 (8) (2002), 707-718) imposed and investigated the biparabolic elliptic bi-hyperbolic mixed type partial differential equation of second order. In the present paper some boundary-value problems with non-local initial condition for model and degenerate parabol...
